Building Blocks

The age of two is so complex. This time of in between. Caught between the world of a baby and a big boy, between a world of needing help and doing it “all by myself.”  Growing, reaching, climbing, achieving. You can do this. You are doing this. Reaching higher and accomplishing more with every breath. I stand in awe of your growth, and watch as you climb into this role of a person you are. I love you, I cherish you, and I capture these brief moments in time when you are still in between.

I am so proud of you, my sweet in between boy.

Linking up today with the lovely Alison of Mama Wants This and Galit of These Little Waves for Memories Captured. What memories have you captured lately?

oh, two… you say it so perfectly “This time of in between”. love it.

  2. That little step-stool? How cute is that! Love how he is focusing on building that tower!

  3. This is an awesome picture. I love how you did this! It really conveys the age well.

  4. Oh you! How completely perfect is that photo? And that step stool!

That in between-ness is such a perfect description of this age.

This is so very beautifully -and lovingly- done!

    • Thank you so much, Galit! He worked so very hard on this. This is such a fascinating age. I absolutely love this link up; thank you so much for hosting!

  5. That’s a great photo. I can imagine him framing this and hanging it up as an adult, turning to it whenever he ever feels like doubting himself.

  6. My kid is 17 mo and she has been climing anything since she was 14mo. I can’t imagine what is going to happen once she is 2. Save me God.

  7. Yes, this! My toddler is at this stage too, and it’s bittersweet to watch him. Mostly, joy. But sometimes, I see the baby emerging too :)

Thank you for linking up with us, Julia!

The concentration captures on his face!! Oh how cute.

You know you’re going to have your hand full with this strong willed boy, right?

    • Oh yes, you have described him exactly. He keeps me busy already. *sigh* It’s a good thing he’s so cute. :)
Thank you so much for coming by!

  9. I love two…but I’m really looking forward to three (foolishly hoping that it’s a bit less full of tantrums)! Looks like you’ve got a budding Engineer there!

  10. I love love LOVE the stool. He figured out that he could extend his tower like that, too! Brilliant

  11. You can tell just how hard he’s concentrating – great shot!

  12. We’re approaching two, and it’s all about I DOOOIT, Mama. I DOOOIT. Proud and sad all at the same time, I am. And I LOVE how tall that building is. It’s beyond awesome how he has the step stool too.

    • Thank you so much! You are so right, this is totally the age of “I do it by myself.” Such an interesting transitional place. And challenging too. Good thing they are still so cute. :)

I love how he is using a stool, so clever.
It’s bittersweet isn’t it – the baby to big boy stage.

Oh I love this picture. Determination definitely seems to fit that picture perfectly!

  15. HE did it! Awesome job, little man!

  16. Two leaves my head spinning. How a little person can go from Sweet to Completely Evil in under 5 seconds is utterly beyond my comprehension. And how I can go from cuddling her and feeling like I could burst with love to struggling to control my temper and frustration with her just as quickly also leaves me baffled. It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions. A very complex age – and not just for them! :)

  17. So sweet! I love how he used the stool to get higher! And that face of determination… :)
